Great edition for the Outremer shipyard 25th Anniversary: 16 catamarans, 140 crew members, and four days of nice racing with cool atmosphere ashore. A more and more international venue with yachts coming from Sweden, USA, Tahïti, Germany and even Brasil!
Thanks to a fresh but nice weather, with increasing wind from 5 to 35 knts, everybody enjoyed runs over 20 knots in total peace of mind.
At the end the winner is 'Free Lance', for her second entry. Her crew of fine racers, coming from sport catamarans (F18) has been the most regular. Congratulations!
At last, she made a remarkable first Cup, the new 49 won the first race and could have finished on the podium without a nav mistake in race 4.
Lot of nice pictures by Gilles Foucras here. Thank you all for coming, organisation or help and see you in 2011!
In cooperation with our Spanish Dealer, Wind Barcelona, Outremer Yachting will be at the 27th Palma Boat Show, April 24th May 2nd, with Outremer 49 #03.
All this thanks to her Brasilian owner, who will sail around the Med for the Summer, and will then cross the Atlantic to reach her home port, Angra dos Reis, not far from Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, but very close to the magnificent bay of Ilha Grande.
We will be pleased to welcome you on the Outremer Yachting stand during the 1st Multihulls Boat Show, April 15-18 in Lorient.
Come and discover the Outremer Catamarans range, including the Outremer 49, just elected European Yacht of the Year 2010, thanks to 360° virtual visits, videos, pictures, and the unique Outremer Yachting world:Outremer Cup, Grand Large taining, Grand Large Services...
Our old continent faces the strongest winter since 1987, but we received these pictures from Alidade, Outremer 49 number 1.
As they left Barcelona, just after the show, late November, the happy owners family on board, enjoys now the nice Grenada sun shine.
After calling in Gibraltar, Canarias Islands, and Cape Verde, they crossed the Atlantic in ten days, in perfect osmosis with the elements and their cat.
Today in the Grenadas islands, they enjoy the fantastic speed potential of their Outremer 49, to cross from one island to another between 12 and 14 knots, having more time to discover the hinterland.
They should be back home in Cherbourg by the summer, but we shouldn't anticipate too much as there is still so much to discover...
In order to give the best possible answers to our owners expectations, Outremer decided in association with Allures Yachting, to create a specific company, fully dedicated to match all their requests.

Worldwide, Grand Large Services will be beside you. JP Balmes will give you an answer within 24 open hours maximum for:
° Maintenance - Convoyage - Repairs - Refit - Advice and training

On Saturday January 23rd, day one of the Düsseldorf Boat Show, it was time to know the results for the European Yacht of the Year Awards.
Gathered by the German Sailing Magazine 'Yacht', 11 journalists, coming from all over Europe, tested in November the nominated yachts, and elected the Outremer 49 as the European Yacht of the Year 2010!
Just two years after the gathering with Allures Yachting, and when at the same time the Hull N°1 was arriving on the other side of the Atlantic sailing the last days at 12 knts in average per day, it's a fantastic reward for all the work accomplished to make the fantastic Outremer concept going ahead again.
Many thanks to all who worked hard on this project: conceptors (Barreau - Neuman architects, The Franck Darnet Design team, and the Outremer Yachting Design Strudio), the production staff who worked hard this summer to deliver in time a beautiful boat, and last, but not least, all the owners who chose the Outremer 49 to accomplish their dream!
PS: please note that you may now follow the Outremer Yachting news live on Twitter.
First important boat show of the year in Europe, Outremer Yachting had to be here in Germarny, at the Düsseldorf Boat Show.
We will be delighted to welcome you Hall 16 / A51.
Come and tell us what you expect from a blue water catamaran, and we will do out best to fulfill your dreams!
We will be also at the following venues: Venezzia (Italy) 18 -21 March and Lorient (France) 14-18 April.
Outremer Yachting would like to thank all our visitors of the Paris Boat Show 2009. Many of you came to know more on what seems to be the new star for fast ocean cruising: the Outremer 49. Your interest comforts us in following the path that made Outremer worldwide known - simplicity, speed and seaworthiness - with an additional little touch of comfort, ergonomy and design, that can't be forgotten on a XXIst century yacht.
Before meeting you in 2010 to celebrate the shipyard 25th anniversary, we wish you a merry christmas and allready a happy new year!
Under a bright sunshine, over a hundred guests attended Saturday 24th October, the new Outremer 49 baptism ceremony.
A few days before their departure for a round Atlantic trip, the owners of 'Alidade' saw with relief, famous skipper Kito de Pavant, breaking the traditional Champagne bottle on his first attempt!
God bless 'Alidade' and her crew, and as quoted by Xavier Desmarest - Outremer Yachting CEO, you have just one duty: "Let us dream!"

Not yet launched but allready honored! Before her first show in Cannes(9-14 Sept.), our new catamaran is selected among the finalists for the prestigious European Yacht of the Year Award in the "Multihulls' Category.
This means, according to Jochen Rieker, YACHT Magazine Editor and Election coordinator, that "she has been ranked as one of the most interesting and promising newcomers of her class."
The judges, made up from 11 yachting magazines across Europe, will test the nominated boats in September in Ijmuiden (NL) or in November in Barcelona (SP).
This is the 7th edition of the award, and the winner will be announced at the Düsseldorf boat show in January 2010.
Outremer Yachting and Allures Yachting shipyards organized jointly in Paris on the 18th of July the first seminar dedicated to preparation for a sea voyage.
About twenty Outremer and Allures owners, all expecting to leave within the next 12 months, received precious advices from Jimmy Cornell and Geoffroy de Bouillane.
Jimmy Cornell, with 3 round the world trips on every seas, is the reference author for sailors with best sellers such as 'World Cruising Routes' or 'World Cruising Handbook'
Geoffroy de Bouillane reported in his book "Un temps pour un rêve’’, his exeprience about one sabbatical year with his family across the Atlantic on an Outremer 45.
They answered participants questions on many subjects such as: route planning, practical aspects of life onboard, administration procedures, teaching children...
Both sailors shared their exeprience, including their initial fears and the magic moments they lived afterwards; travelogue widely illustrated with photos and anecdotes, made everybody feelling the fresh breeze of ocean going trips!
Owners crossed their opinions and debated largely on the many questions that always appear when the D-Day for leaving comes.
As participants where delighted with this first experience, more seminars will be organised on various subjects, but still within the "long distance cruising pole" created by the matching of Outremer and Allures.
Outremer 45 'Obedient' won the 2009 Scottish Islands Peaks Race. What a chance for the crew to participate this incredible race in this wonderful country. And for us to read the full report from her owner:
"We are delighted to be able to inform you that “Obedient”, an Outremer 45, won the 2009 Scottish Islands Peaks Race starting on 15 May 2009. This race involves both sailing and hill running around the Inner Hebrides. A description of the race is available at http://www.sipr.zetnet.co.uk/intro.htm . The race is for teams of hill runners and sailors over a long weekend around the beautiful West Coast of Scotland. The sailing course of 160 nautical miles includes the strong tides and overfalls of the Corryvreckan and the Mull of Kintyre whilst the runners cover 60 miles and 11,500 ft of climbing.
"Obedient", despite being a cruiser, was in class one, and beat an F 28 trimaran over the first two legs, even winning a tacking duel with the trimaran through the night in very light winds. Unfortunately the conditions off the Mull of Kintyre were very severe, and the F 28 got caught in very bad tidal overfalls, and retired on the third of four sailing legs. Despite the race being mainly upwind, sailing times were better than a J124, an X412, a J 44 and a Maramu 52. The overall sailing time was 22 hours 47 minutes and six seconds which was quicker than a very well sailed J124; however we sailed very conservatively after the trimaran retired, avoiding breakages in the heavy conditions, as our overall lead was over four hours. Total race time was less than the magical 36 hours overall, at 35h: 48m: 25 seconds, compared to the second placed boat which took 40h:2m:30s. This is an average of 7kts, which includes the time taken for the runners to leave the checkout, get picked up by dinghy and set off, as well as dropping them off the dinghy and rowing ashore to the checkpoint at each of the mountains as well as Oban and Troon.
This is the second fastest time ever in the history of the race. That was achieved by a Nic Bailey designed 40 foot ocean racing trimaran (Mollymawk ex. MTC) in mainly reaching conditions.
Of 48 starters, only 15 finished because of poor weather conditions. This result is a tribute to the speed and seakeeping qualities of Outremer catamarans, and to their comfort in which we were able to keep the runners well fed, rested while on board and (in the main) free of seasickness. Tribute also to the runners, Donald and Ray, who came second in the runners. Ray had only had one week's notice to participate in the race.
The moral of the story – if you want a fast cruise round the West Coast of Scotland in incredible speed, comfort, style and safety, buy an Outremer!
Thanks Outremer! Please thank all of your staff who helped build our wonderful catamaran..
Gordon"
