OUTREMER 49 - European Yacht of the Year 2010
On Saturday January 23rd, day one of the Düsseldorf Boat Show, it was time to know the results for the European Yacht of the Year Awards.
Gathered by the German Sailing Magazine 'Yacht', 11 journalists, coming from all over Europe, tested in November the nominated yachts, and elected the Outremer 49 as the European Yacht of the Year 2010!
Just two years after the gathering with Allures Yachting, and when at the same time the Hull N°1 was arriving on the other side of the Atlantic sailing the last days at 12 knts in average per day, it's a fantastic reward for all the work accomplished to make the fantastic Outremer concept going ahead again.
Many thanks to all who worked hard on this project: conceptors (Barreau - Neuman architects, The Franck Darnet Design team, and the Outremer Yachting Design Strudio), the production staff who worked hard this summer to deliver in time a beautiful boat, and last, but not least, all the owners who chose the Outremer 49 to accomplish their dream!
PS: please note that you may now follow the Outremer Yachting news live on Twitter.

Paris Boat Show
Outremer Yachting would like to thank all our visitors of the Paris Boat Show 2009. Many of you came to know more on what seems to be the new star for fast ocean cruising: the Outremer 49. Your interest comforts us in following the path that made Outremer worldwide known - simplicity, speed and seaworthiness - with an additional little touch of comfort, ergonomy and design, that can't be forgotten on a XXIst century yacht.
Before meeting you in 2010 to celebrate the shipyard 25th anniversary, we wish you a merry christmas and allready a happy new year!

First Cruising Seminar for Outremer owners
Outremer Yachting and Allures Yachting shipyards organized jointly in Paris on the 18th of July the first seminar dedicated to preparation for a sea voyage.
About twenty Outremer and Allures owners, all expecting to leave within the next 12 months, received precious advices from Jimmy Cornell and Geoffroy de Bouillane.
Jimmy Cornell, with 3 round the world trips on every seas, is the reference author for sailors with best sellers such as 'World Cruising Routes' or 'World Cruising Handbook'
Geoffroy de Bouillane reported in his book "Un temps pour un rêve’’, his exeprience about one sabbatical year with his family across the Atlantic on an Outremer 45.
They answered participants questions on many subjects such as: route planning, practical aspects of life onboard, administration procedures, teaching children...
Both sailors shared their exeprience, including their initial fears and the magic moments they lived afterwards; travelogue widely illustrated with photos and anecdotes, made everybody feelling the fresh breeze of ocean going trips!
Owners crossed their opinions and debated largely on the many questions that always appear when the D-Day for leaving comes.
As participants where delighted with this first experience, more seminars will be organised on various subjects, but still within the "long distance cruising pole" created by the matching of Outremer and Allures.
